The Academy Museum Is Restoring This 1939 Mid-Wilshire Landmark - Los Angeles Magazine

Here's what's happening at Wilshire and Fairfax

Only in LA can a site be deemed to be historic but still legally have everything but its facade gutted. I am happy that they are restoring the outside, but essentially the actual building is gone. This happens over and over again here. The problem with that is that once you gut the inside of a historic building, it's no longer truly historic and its value as is severely diminished.
