Dear Gay Olympians, We Get It, You’re Gay, Get Over It

This is exactly correct. It's enough. Either everyone's sexuality needs to be endlessly discussed publicly or no one's does. Meaning: the gay community needs to choose whether it wants to be treated as part of mainstream society or singled out a "the other." The latter is what the left claimed that it was fighting for decades. You can't have it both ways. You can't continually claim that something is normal and insist at the same time that it makes you special.

"The bottom line is that being gay doesn’t make you special, it makes you gay. It doesn’t make you a cultural mouthpiece for the western world, nor does it make you a mouthpiece for the LGBT community at large. It’s a diverse crowd with diverse opinions, and I know too many who roll their eyes so hard at the behavior of people like Kenworthy and Rippon that they nearly fall out of their sockets."
