House bill calls for US to refer officially to ‘Judea, Samaria,’ not ‘West Bank’

“The term ‘West Bank’ is used to delegitimize Israel’s historical claim to this land,” stated Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.).

There is just no comparison between the Republican attitude toward Israel, and the Democrat attitude. You have to be willfully blind not to see it. One consistently supports Israel, while the other supports it just enough to keep the Jewish democrat money and votes coming in, but continually supports antisemites in their ranks, and regularly does whatever it can get away with to attempt to demonize and weaken Israel. Their actions tell the story too. If the democrats introduced a bill like this, their base would lose their minds, and there would be days, and months, of protests, while they would lose a significant number o votes. Republicans know that the vast majority, of GOP congressional members and voters, will support this bill. And THAT'S the difference.

“Yet the Post isn’t alone in de facto deciding in favor of Palestinian claims. An August 14, 2020 Vox article by Alex Ward (“Kamala Harris’s foreign policy, explained”) incorrectly asserted that the Jewish National Fund (JNF) “played a major role in pushing Palestinians out of their lands to make way for the State of Israel.” This is, in every sense, ahistorical.

In fact, Jews are from Judea and Samaria, an area that only in the last half-century or so has been referred to as the “West Bank.” The Jewish presence in the land of Israel predates that of the Arab and Islamic conquests in the 7th century — by thousands of years. Further, that presence has been continuous. Indeed, in Jerusalem, for example, Jews constituted a majority of the inhabitants since the 1840s — long before the 1901 creation of the JNF.

Another important but omitted fact: much of the land that Jews acquired was purchased from Arabs, including from several notable Palestinian Arab families. As the historian Benny Morris noted in his 2008 book 1948: “A giant question mark hangs over the ethos of the Palestinian Arab elite: Husseinis, as well as Nashashibis, Khalidis, Dajanis, and Tamimis … sold land to the Zionist institutions and/or served as Zionist agents or spies.” These families, many of whom would lead opposition to the existence of Israel and the right of Jewish self-determination, secretly sold land to the very movement that they denounced”

I’ve been living in Israel, in Gush Etzion, in Efrat, since the end of August. I’m here because one daughter (YD) is studying in a seminary nearby (much more on that, later), and the other (OD) made Aliyah and is going into the IDF in December.

I've been in the West Bank and Gaza. Both have some really beautiful neighborhoods. The media narrative that Jewish towns in the West Bank are just "settlements" is a lie, as is the assertion that all of Gaza is some kind of shantytown.
