Assisted-death bill approved by California Senate

After a debate marked by raw and personal tales of loss, the state Senate on Thursday advanced a proposal to allow terminally ill Californians to end their lives with drugs prescribed by physicians.

I have long been a supporter of assisted-death because of my strong belief that everyone has the right to die with dignity and choice. Keeping humans alive medically long after their body functions with quality of life to me seems like torture driven by fear of death. Death is simply a transition we all go through and bringing it into acceptance is a gift. I am a strong supporter of this bill passing in California so we give people the same humanity we have for our animals.
